easy iced coffee

i wouldn't describe myself as a coffee addict...buuuut i work at 4a every morning, have an extremely active toddler, and stay up late every night reading. sooo...i definitely reach for caffeine on a regular basis.

last summer, i discovered a yummy iced coffee recipe on pinterest...and from that point on made sure we had a constant supply of it in our refrigerator!

read on for the recipe!

first, gather your ingredients:

2/3 cup coarsely ground coffee
3 cups water
1 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbs brown sugar
milk or creamer to taste

i used an electric burr grinder to grind my coffee beans. we have an older version of this capresso and are very happy with it.

pour the coffee grounds, water, cinnamon, and brown sugar into a pitcher and stir. let it sit in your refrigerator overnight.

the next morning: fill your glass about three-quarters full with ice.

get out your french press. we have a couple different sizes of this bodum one that we like. although...the glass burst in the dishwasher once and we had to buy a replacement cup. that's the only problem we've ever had with it.

it's hard to tell in this picture, but the coffee grounds settle overnight:

...so make sure you stir again...

...before pouring into your french press:

pour the cold coffee mix into your cup until the ice is covered.

then add milk or creamer to taste.

et voila!
i don't remember the source for this easy iced coffee recipe. if you know where it came from, please link me in the comments so i can credit the source! this recipe came from food52!

let me know if you try it...

...and have a safe and happy fourth of july holiday!
