april in review

may day! may day!
june is so close, i can taste it...

before we plunge headfirst into almost-summer, here's a recap of what we did in april:

it was another jam-packed month!

i began april by wrapping up my 25 sources for vintage home decor. you can see part one here and part two here.

DIY projects: i shared my personalized paper-cut house on eighteen25 and i relined a thrifted toddler-sized suitcase.!

around the house: i gave an update on our front room...and after living for a year with a gaping hole in our ceiling, we finally chose and hung a light fixture in our dining room:

...i scored the Deal of the Century on craigslist:
a henredon campaign chest for $100!

...then, when the weather turned nice for a measly two-day stretch, we started concentrating on outside projects...and got busy building a retaining wall for our front flower beds.

fish finished building the wall on the little section the following weekend!

staring at those beds for so long sure got me in the spring-y mood: i posted a boatload of flower pictures on instagram (taken in the greenhouse while fish was loading up contractor carts with cement blocks)...and i finally bought more fresh flowers

see other fresh flower installments here.

i also spent two glooorious hours in a local nursery's greenhouses!

back at the beginning of april, i entered my gilded nightstand (which you may have seen in an hgtv commercial, eeks!) in a styling contest run by emily henderson...and it was picked as one of her favorites! yay!

finally, here are april's popular instagram pics (@meandering_mari):

what's in the works for may? so far, it's looking like lots of outdoor sprucing-up. i'll keep you posted...
