would i do it again? : yes!

K has a habit of picking up small stones and rocks whenever we're out and about and shoving them in his pockets. or hiding them in my purse.
...i wondered why my bag was getting so heavy...

he's amassed quite a little collection so far. i was tidying up my workspace earlier this week and i set his rocks aside, unsure whether to keep them, toss them, throw 'em outside...

i felt guilty getting rid of them since K spent so much time selecting each stone. yes, i'm totally going to be that mom that keeps every. single. piece. of artwork her kids make. so i grabbed some red craft paint and we turned them into valentine's day decor!

K had so much fun painting the rocks...
and i had fun watching him!

i mean. this boy is having a good time!

if you want to paint some rocks, but you don't have a toddler to scavenge for you, you can always buy them in small bags at a craft store. or large bags at the hardware store...if you wanted to go all buckwild.

i put our lovey-dovey rocks on a windowsill in the kitchen:

simple. they add just a touch of v-day. love them!

did you enjoy this post? here are some more valentine diy projects!

  1. This reminds me...my parents had lots and lots of brown rocks (rock gardens, we called them) and we would decorate them with glue and glitter :)
