lil' archer's bed: conditioning & staining

fish has conditioned and started staining lil' a's bed!!

can you believe the loft-bed is almost a reality?? after months and months of obsessing -- seriously. i started a blog, introduced ourselves, introduced lil' archer, then immediately started planning his fort bed.

etsy love: lollipop labels

when lil' archer started preschool a few weeks ago, i was told his EVERYTHING needs to be labeled. oops!

i could have taken a big fat sharpie to all his worldly possessions...but instead, i did a quick etsy search.
   ...just to see what was available.

i stumbled upon {lollipop labels} - O.M.G. any kind of label you could ever desire for all of your schoolchild's needs. AND they offer completely customizable graphics, colors, and fonts!

of course i ordered them that night.

lil' archer is CRAZY about trucks and {lollipop labels} offers a decent selection of different ones to choose from. i went with a construction theme.

so long, antenna!...and gutter-junk and cement...

there was a gigantic eyesore of an antenna on top of our house that drove me NUTS. it was just so big...and ugly...and pointless!
   i could deal with it if it had a purpose.
      ...but it just sat there atop our house...taunting me.

              and sanding the lumber for lil' archer's bed, fish has now started...

   ...and THIS is the disaster area our garage has been while he's been sanding up a storm.

a fine layer of sawdust covering absolutely everything...

lil' archer's bed: sanding is complete!

this little guy has had quite the workout these past few weeks!

it took a long time to sand all the pieces for lil' archer's new bed because fish was only able to steal away an hour here, a half-hour there...due to his ten, twelve, sixteen-hour work days.

   i volunteered to help, but he ((wisely)) declined. 

      i'm sure i would have messed something up.

the important thing is...all the pieces are now cut AND sanded!

marathon post: summer in review

^^^ happy labor day, everyone! ^^^

well, we survived the first summer in our new house -- it absolutely FLEW by. now that the season has officially ended, i'd like to share a recap of these past few months. i'm really proud of all that we accomplished!

to begin with, there was a LOT of painting: the main floor bathroom, the upstairs hallway, the stairway up, the chalkboard wall in the kitchen, the polka-squared dining room, the upstairs bathroom, the pink-turned-blue room, and fish's study (which i didn't write a post on, but am still including in this tally).

whew!

remember when i bought a spirograph set? i decided the huge blank wall in our front room would be the perfect place to display the products of all my practice.

i got to spirographing...
