grand plan:
using stencils to replicate wallpaper

last night, i told fish i would love to hang this wallpaper in our dining room...and he said okay!

WOOHOO!
i just LOVE the color and the simple pattern.

this is the dining room in its current state:
we wouldn't need much wallpaper since there are only three walls, the bottom of each wall is paneled, and there are doorways on two of the walls.

this morning i went to the farrow&ball website to order the wallpaper only to discover...it's $255 per roll. two hundred and fifty-five freaking dollars PER ROLL.

we'd need three rolls.
sigh.

so i decided to research either a cheaper wallpaper -or- paint and a stenciled pattern. i was leaning towards stenciling since the design is so simple.

i gave up searching "polka square" pretty quickly. i tried looking for "polka dot" wall stencils next and most of those results led to large-pattern nursery or youth designs. not the small, sophisticated dot.

but, then...i found it!

the "md45 squares no 1" wall stencil from the stencil library!
yep, never would have googled that in my "polka squares" search...

the squares seem a bit bigger -- i couldn't find an actual measurement of them in the description -- but, i still like the pattern. a lot.

NOW, for the EVEN COOLER part...i was rummaging through the previous owners' paint stash in the basement...

...AND LOOK AT WHAT COLOR WAS DOWN THERE!

now...look at it compared to the farrow&ball wallpaper:
WHOA.

right??

it's a sign.
a sign that i should go forth and stencil.

i opened the can to test the color on the wall, to make sure i really do like it...because when i just look at the swatch, i think: THAT'S CAMEL. but it looks yellow in person. and it matches the all-important wallpaper swatch.

although...now i'm browsing through behr's yellow spectrum...i kind of like yellow gold as well. or golden chalice.
WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?
