after a weekend of painting the sunroom dresser, doing yardwork ((all of which was done by fish and his parents)), and playing with lil' archer in his new sandbox...
...it sure was nice waking up fully rested from our first night's sleep in the new bedroom...on our new foam mattress...which is sitting in the new bedframe that fish built!
*** you can see all of fish's projects here! ***
obviously, the bedroom still needs some decor...

Does you mind sharing how he built this? I would love for my husband to build one for our bed! Looks great!
ReplyDeletehi erin -- thanks so much!! we followed plans for the hailey platform bed by ana white, which can be found here:

we modified the measurements for a king bed and added four extra feet under the bed for added stability.
this was fish's first major project so if your husband has any prior experience at all, this will be a piece of cake for him!
good luck and i'd love to see pictures when you're finished with it!

Your bed looks amazing! I was wondering if you added any additional room (inches) to the frame from the size of your mattress. For example, my mattress is 80x80 so should I build the frame to allow 82x82? Thanks for the information! The blog looks great! -Emily
ReplyDeletethanks emily sue! fish did not add any extra inches to allow for the mattress. ours is a king mattress and he built the frame to exactly fit it, 76x80".
DeleteThis looks just amazing. I love the design and the finish. The height is perfect too. I love a lower bed as it makes the room look much bigger :) We have that too :)
ReplyDeletethank you katja! yes, we lost some underbed storage as compared with our old bedframe -- but! i like the look of a lower bed much better. it seems to make the room larger. :)
