after two coats of paint:
aaaaahhh...........
my anxiety level just decreased tenfold.
...aaand after adding drawer liners:
usable bathroom drawers!

i was definitely intent on using liners, but if i hadn't also painted them -- just *knowing* that the drawers were all patchy looking under the liners would have driven me crazy!
